I bet that if you were to ask those arrested, many will tell you otherwise. Of course they will defend the casinos. :D

The opening of the two casinos in Singapore last year has not led to an increase in the number of people turning to loansharks or illegal moneylenders, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, S. Iswaran.

Responding to opposition Member of Parliament (MP) Low Thia Khiang's (Aljunied GRC) question, Mr Iswaran, who is also Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade and Industry, reiterated his point that there were 10,439 police reports made for unlicensed moneylending and harassment from January to September this year, a drop of about 3,200 cases compared to the same period last year (2010).

In the same period, the number of persons arrested for such offences rose 24 per cent to 1,492, due to stepped up enforcement, said Mr Iswaran.

He was responding to Holland-Bukit Timah GRC MP Christopher de Souza's question on whether the measures introduced by the police to curb illegal moneylending activities were successful.

Mr. Iswaran should be taken to task for lying. Just look at the ads in The Newpaper. The rise in moneylending means there is a rise in loans being taken. What about the rise in suicides, are they not linked?

You believe those Police statistics?, massaged to look good, and they will blame it on the computer!. We know, the saying for computers, "rubbish in, rubiish out". Only the 60% believes every thing they say, for they are their gods of wealth.:p

Been following parliament lately (i don't know why) and the things the PAP fuckers says are downright retarded. There were days that I considered good days at work than I come home an accidentally turn on the tube and see those fuckfaces trying to act almighty and condemning sinkees to a rotten existence which makes my blood boil. Lucky I got season 7 and a few episodes of season 8 Desperate housewives to watch and make me feel better abit.

Speaking about retards, that Lim Swee Say is a fucking cry baby sia. I nearly puke hearing the shit he was talking about. Get paid millions for acting like ah kua and playing sympathy card. Sinkees strugling and suffering all around and he wants people to feel sorry that he is feeling hurt by peasants comments. He should just drop dead in parliament than can garner more sympathy votes for not being able to do his routine CPF check on his PC to feel happy everyday.

Please dont blame loan shark. The borrower should be jail also.

Fully agree with you... It takes two hands to do the clapping.. Jail the loan shark and jail the idiotic borrower too.. Many innocent people have been affected by these people who borrowed from the loan sharks.. Their families who constantly lived in fear because of an irresponsible family member who took the loans from the Ah longs, the innocent house owners whose units had been splashed with paint too just because their next door neighbour borrowed money from these Ah longs.. Both parties should be punished...
