A jobless man who posed as an Housing Board officer to cheat residents of a total of $2,930 was jailed a year and three months on Wednesday .

Thean Nyoon Wee, 51, had pleaded guilty on Sept 11 to cheating.

A district court then heard that he had conned 12 victims between March 9 and May 6, 2011 at Sims Avenue, Bedok, Ubi and Woodlands.

Just 12 days after his release from prison on Dec 10, 2010, for an earlier cheating conviction, he went to register the HDP Projects company with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority.
