A POPULAR body-building influencer has tragically died just days after his friends noticed bulging blood vessels in his neck and purple lips.

Bi Jiaqi, 26, had been online discussing plans for his next bodybuilding competition on Wednesday night before he suddenly died in his sleep.

The Chinese fitness creator – who was known for his gruelling workouts and muscled physique – had also joked that his “head was swollen like a steamed bun” when he posted a selfie earlier this month.

Jiaqi’s friends also noted he hadn’t seemed right in the days leading up to his death.

Going through recent photos, they noticed his lips appeared purple and he had tired eyes, but had put the symptoms down to training fatigue.

The cause of Jiaqi’s death has not yet been released.

His friends said they’d also seen the blood vessels in his neck bulging abnormally, suggesting oxygen deficiency and circulatory problems.

Similar symptoms can lead to cardiac arrest, however his training partners thought it was a normal reaction to extreme fat loss and pre-competition dehydration.

It is common for athletes to reduce their body fat percentage to single digits using extreme water and salt restriction to make their muscles more defined.

The method can put severe strain on the heart, according to Zhang Yu, a cardiologist at Fuwai Hospital in Shenzhen.

“In particular, the dehydration and fat reduction methods commonly used by bodybuilders before competitions can make the blood thicker, greatly increasing the risk of thrombosis,” he said.

“Exercise is a double-edged sword – both inactivity and excessive exercise are bad for the heart.

“Long-term overload training may lead to myocardial fibrosis and myocardial hypertrophy, which may increase the risk of sudden death.”

From Ningbo in China, Jiaqi recently purchased a new house and had promised to host a dinner party for his pals when he moved in.

In the heartbreaking twist of fate, he died before it was renovated.

The bodybuilder’s Weibo followers were shocked by his sudden passing.

Many said they thought he was “invincible”.

Jiaqi’s body will undergo an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.

I have said this many times.
Exercise kills you especially after jab.
And inactivity too.
Best is in the middle I.e just move and walk.

Posting the whole article (eg. from Straits Times) is often technically illegal due to copyright law. Posting just the relevant link gives the viewer the option to conveniently go to the site to read the full article without breaking any laws if they're interested.

Severe head pain can be dangerous, as it may result from a ruptured blood vessel. Prompt medical attention at the emergency department is crucial.
