Just a decade ago I could bench 300 lbs on the machine and 170 using free weights. Now I can only do 150 on the machine and I'd be lucky to get 60 lbs on free weights. Uncontrollable muscle cramps set in if I try anything heavier. Very, very dangerous on free weights. At least with the machine if I get a sudden painful spasm I can just drop the weight without injuring myself or anyone else.

Push ups. 200 in 5 minutes used to be no problem. Now 100 is a problem. After that, have to be very careful when bathing as cramping will be an issue.

Fucked up stomach and torso muscles just won't do what I tell it without cramping. Sit ups a huge problem due to cramping. Do too much tummy crunches, leg raises or flutter kicks, also got cramping issue.

Cramping problems damn fucked up are keeping me from realizing my potential. Now I just jog everyday. Only consolation is run times have not suffered.

counter-weight chin-up apparatus is great for upper body muscles. still aching though for aging folks like us.

Does not sound right. If you're getting cramps that easily it sounds like you're low on electrolytes. I was cramping during bike races. Anti cramp electrolyte tablets solved the problem.

Few months back before leaving Sinkie Land, I did some push ups and light jogging.. At the same time wanted to test my newly bought Adidas running shoes.. Been some time since I did any jogging..

After 5 mins of push ups and 15 mins of jogging, I gave up and walked back home.. Then experienced this uneasy aching pain on the centre of my chest.. Pain was there the whole night and worsened each time I lit a ciggie..

Went to company doctor the next day.. Really thought it was symptoms of heart attack.. Doctor then checked and told I was having pulled chest muscle pain and gave me painkillers.. Pheww....

Yes, thanks. I've taken care of the electrolytes and proper hydration part, as per what many have suggested in a previous thread. It helped a little but the main problem persists. Now I go light and easy and careful not to make sudden movements especially rotating the torso.

Nice to know it turned out to be nothing. Regular exercise helps to eliminate such "scares".

Lighting a ciggie when chest was aching was an act of bravery though .... :-)

Growing old is a sin. Especially if one.is fit or was fit n atheletic in their younger days s they tend to push harder. So just b more careful. Take supplements like fish oil n glucosamine n magnesium to keep the muscles etc going.

As for eXercises start small. Do proper streatching etc..

Bro Zeddy, where are you located now?

Don't be taken in by those who said glucosamine is good for you.

http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/does-glucosamine-really-work/

It has pain-killers added to give the impression it is working and those who take them regularly noticed the pain returns after they stopped and assume it was due to lack of glucosamine. They then continue taking it.

Caltrate 600 Plus with minerals is best to take to build up bone loss.

I personally advise against jogging or running as a means to keep fit.

Jogging is bad for the knees (nobody's knees are spared in middle and old age), and running is bad for the heart (notice that everytime you read about someone suddenly collapsing and dying in the Straits Times, it's always either some NSF or NS man doing the 2.4km, or some young/middle-aged chap doing some public marathon).

Other than gym, two body-weight routines that train dozens of muscles of the upper body with excellent efficacy, are of course, pull ups (you can buy a pull-up bar cheaply and install it in your room/home; you can even find cheap pull-up bars these days that can be securely installed without any drilling or screws) and dips (a more advanced form of push ups; I've ingeniously come up with a way to do dips right at home, using the bai-ka (hokkien) walker that you can buy from any pharmacy or hospital).

And no worries about the height. Just bend/fold your knees/thighs in mid-air, such that your feet no longer touch the ground. Doing this additionally serves as a little bonus workout for your legs.

Thats the problem with me.. Always lighting a stick every 30 mins..

Already back in Sinkie Land after nearly 2 months stationed at an offshore supply base in Eastern Coast of Mat Land..

I read that life there being pretty good with sumptious meals and lots of recreation (like porn movies;)). Smokers suffer if stationed there?

Yes I don't believe in glucosamine supplements too.

Take calcium to preserve the bone strength.

Internet available every where.. Even at manual car washing kiosks and roadside food stalls you are able to have free Wifi Connections.. Cheap Malay food especially their sumptuous seafood.. Beer also available but we can only drank them inside our vessel.. Chinese restaurants selling pork dishes also available but too far away from our base.. Ciggies as usual damn cheap..

As for whores, the local Mat workers there would arrange the deal for you as they have connections to the local pimps there since they are also long time regular customers..

I used to have sex 3 times a night..now i need 3 weeks rest in between rounds...and still have to wait until 62 to get my CPF...

Some presents for you...

I think also got to look at the bioavailability level of the things you are taking.

Try Universal Animal Pak. Mouthful of multi vitamin pills, but very good for immune system. Contains digestive enzymes, some stuff that the body absorb nutrients etc. Is to be taken with a meal.

Maybe you can try your electrolytes with this Pak.

I took it for a few months, immune to common flu when the whole office kenna flu.
