Billionaire investor Peter Lim is teaming up with the Johor royal family to build a $2 billion complex that will include a hospital, hotels, flats and entertainment outlets in Johor Baru.

The 10ha complex will be erected on a waterfront site just a few hundred metres from Johor's new customs, immigration and quarantine facility, making it highly convenient for Singaporeans.

The developers are looking at concepts and designs and obtaining work permits. The first phase of construction should begin at the end of next year, with the hospital expected to be functional by early 2015.

A 200-bed general hospital with specialist services in areas such as diabetes and ophthalmology will be built in the first stage.

This bugger is shrewd - deserves to be rich!
He cleverly avoided Iskandar Resort due to red tapes n new rules yet to come by the tonnes..... The location he has chosen is superb as well as the partners he roped in. When launched he can either IPO the pieces or sell to the next guys for triple his investment............. finally sg has its own Warren Buffet.

Got brains, experience and money can do anything.

also read that :"Singaporeans and Malaysians with CPF can use Medisave at proposed JB hospital"

Just wonder how he manage to convince sg govt to allow cpf deduction for medical care in JB ? Maybe he is taking up the role of Khaw to promote JB as the place of the unproductive aged.

Obviously than compared to the ugly, fat and old yellow commoner on the left.

shit skin you don't even have 0.0001% of wealth that peter lim possess. Btw peter lim is self made he wasn't born in riches unlike the johor person who's also younger. In any case who's talking about looks here? Oh yes and you're uglier than peter lim.

johor always want to compete with singapore. without singapore, johor will just be nothing, yet they repay us with competition. We should fire all the johorean working in singapore and kill their economic.

this mr lim is a damned superb guy. good to link with johor royalty. he got it man! might as well unite singapore and johor!!! super merger!!!majulah singajohore!!!

to lose tons of money..........................

That is why he chose the most recession-proof business because more people fall sick in recession

Peter Lim is a true patriot. he knew Khaw had asked Singaporeans to go JB when they are sick or dying. So he is just doing everyone a favour, creating more low-cost hospitals nearby across the Causeway.

Just curious. The media on both sides of the Causeway did not point to the exact location or site. They did not even mention "Iskandar". Why so secretive? Where exactly is the 10 hectares site - east or west of the Causeway?

If east, could it be the former Sultan residence in Stulang Laut along Jalan Sultan Ibrahim - the road named after one of the Sultans? Some construction work has begun sometime ago in front of the beach where the wealthy royal family park his yacht. Not far away, is the huge royal family playground where the family ride their horses and play polo.

If west, could it be in Danga Bay area where some land reclamation has taken place and where the Yacht club is located. The road has been expanded in front of yet another royal family palace - named afte yet another Sultan - Sultan Abu Bakar Istana Besar. This place is still within the Iskandar Zone and near the General hospital Sultana Aminah Hospital.

Of course who can ever forget the white elephant "Waterfront City" - the huge project that was abandoned more than 10 years ago and now stood like an eyesore with rusty piles still sticking out of the mudflat there. Peter Lim surely has a lot of confidence in the Singapore government - without the Singapore government endorsement and support, you just need to look at the abandoned Waterfron City - where lots of Singaporeans lost money (may be the developer didn't include the Sultan family in the pie).

Yet for all the money and Singapore investment and support, the present half mad salleh Sultan still doesn't appear to be friendly with Singapore. He still wants to demolish the Causeway and build his crooked bridge - the brainchild of Mahathir and his crony.

This Peter Lim sure has a lot of money to throw. Name of the new medical hub or hospital? Datin Cherie Lim?

The sultan wanted the crooked bridge so that they can 'eat' money...
He has a personal stake in the crooked bridge project back when he was crown prince (sunk millions into it, expecting the project to go ahead).

Not aware Singaporeans lost money in lot 1 waterfront city but you are right it did not take off mainly dun to the royal family not involved (any big project in Johor needs the support of the royal family).
This shopping mall was built by abdullah's crony....initially there were supposed to be plans for diverted roads from customs to this place for Singaporeans. abdullah scrapped the bridge the sultan scrapped the road plans tit for tat.
Later there were plans to revived the place fashioning it after orchard towers 4 floors of whores where all nightlife will be consolidated there...many nightlife operators got the notice to relocated from city authorities. But needless to say that fell thru last min due to location proximity to sultan's palace.

Not sure what you say is correct. I once had a friend who went into business with them and got screw for $8million even though the venture lost moneys. He wanted the royalty to open doors but they were all nailed down tight.

Waterfront City was at a time where a 5 room flat in peesai cost how much? I bought my pigeonhole 7 years ago and it cost me 189k for 5 rooms. That time no one even wants to buy pigeonholes in Jurong West (which resulted in the huge hdb surplus). Flash forward to today, how much is a flat in JW cost now? Google it.

10 years ago alot of sinkees got so much pride to living in Johor. Now as far as plentong there are lots of sinkees living in the apartments and houses along molek area.

I went to sutera mall yesterday and there was a outdoor performance of sort and I'll bet most of the people there was sinkees. Mostly chinese goes to that mall.

Even as we speak about the failed projects of johor in the past, sinkees are still snapping up maudland properties today.

In 5 to 10 years from now this new project will be bought mostly by sinkees. Why? Because the price of HDB than would be ridiculous and people who bought hdb during the time I bought it would wanna cash out and "upgrade" to our penthouse overlooking poor sinkees in overpriced woodlands pigeonshitholes.

Whos laughing than?

.....

no secret lah...The site of this hub is located at Bandar Johor Baru, and is within close proximity to Johor's new royal customs, immigration and quarantine complex as well as Singapore's Woodlands checkpoint. The first phase of the project will see the construction of a medical hub which will include a private hospital and healthcare-related facilities and also supporting facilities including serviced apartments, a mega shopping mall and a mega fully secured car park. A special feature of the complex is a state-of-the-art security deterrence and detection systems
The 200-bed general hospital will house centres of excellence for diabetes, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, women's health, and a state-of-the-art day surgery centre.

it was already allow BP ie Before Peter lim........... HMI hospital was big benefiary in Johor
