Has it not just gotten worse now that trains cannot run too fast and frequently to prevent the claws from falling off?

SINGAPORE: Train commuters can look forward to shorter waiting times and less crowding on MRT trains.

Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew unveiled a slew of measures Wednesday to do this by improving rail operations and capacity from now till 2017.

=> Just after the next GE.

The North-South and East-West lines will get 57 more trains by 2016, a 50 per cent increase in capacity.

The North-East line (18 more trains, a 70 per cent increase in capacity), the Circle Line (16 more trains, a 40 per cent increase in capacity) and Bukit Panjang LRT (13 more train-cars, a 70 per cent increase in capacity) will also get more trains, increasing their capacity by 40 to 70 per cent.

Tuas West Extension will get 13 new trains, while Sengkang-Punggol LRT will also be upgraded from one-car system to a two-car system to increase capacity.

Starting from March 19, the number of train trips will also be increased on the North-East Line , with 60 more train trips per week from 6.45 am to 7.30 am.

The rail network will also be expanded to bring connectivity to residents living in more parts of Singapore.

- CNA/cc

Quick math
60trips / 7 days = 8.5
So it's about 8 extra trains in 45min(6.45am - 7.30am)

I'm curious why 6.45 - 7.30 instead of until 9.30 or 10 am when the rush hour stops
