JOHOR BAHARU, May 21 – A Singaporean man was sentenced to seven days’ jail and fined RM5,000 or five month’s jail for reckless driving and endangering the public by causing a collision involving the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim’s police motorcycle outrider yesterday.
Benjamin Lourdes, 30, pleaded guilty before magistrate Noor Farhana Mohd Shanif.
Lourdes was alleged to have recklessly driven a car bearing registration SGE3601L (Subaru Impreza) and caused a collision with a police motorcycle registered WSF 1047 at Jalan Lingkaran Dalam here at 1.40pm yesterday.
He was charged under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 which carries a penalty of up to five years in jail and fine up of to RM15,000, upon conviction. – Bernama
