I watch on TV, that belly-dancers are scantily-clad, revealing waists, navel, thighs, shoulders, and make rather suggestive gestures. If I am not wrong, the scenes look like they are in Middle-Eastern setting. Doesn't this contradict Islamic practices where women are covered up except for their eyes? And are not permitted to be expressive? How does this art form exist in such strict societies? I belly dancing actually performed in these places? Or is it a creation of Hollywood?
Cheers!
