I take SBS Service 23 from Tampines Avenue 5 (Block 147) to Jalan Besar (after Allenby Road ) a few times a week.
In August last year, I wrote to SBS Transit that I was overcharged 4 cents for each trip. I was charged $1.45 when the information board at the bus stop indicated the distance to be 13.9km with a fare of $1.41.
SBS Transit affirmed in its reply that I was not overcharged, that the information board at the bus stop was wrong, the distance covered should be 14.4km and that the $1.45 fare was correct. It said the correct fare could be verified with the fare calculator at the public transport website.
Most recently, I have observed that I have been charged $1.41 for the same journey. The distance is now 14.1km, according to the same website fare calculator. This is now 300m shorter. It appears that I have been overcharged after all.
The distance fare was introduced in July last year and I have been making the same journey on Service 23 almost every week. However, when I went to the add-value machine to get my refund, I got only 4 cents. How could this be, a refund of only 4 cents in total? It has been reported that only $46,000 in bus fare refunds have been claimed so far. I believe commuters are, in fact, being under-refunded.
The Land Transport Authority has admitted it overcharged bus commuters some $300,000. This is perhaps only the tip of the iceberg. In the first place, the supposedly-correct distance in the systems may have been wrong from the start. The refund system is questionable as well.
Since the distance fare was introduced, my bus fares have gone up by over 10 per cent; I am being overcharged and under-refunded. Can the Land Transport Authority and the Public Transport Council explain? Why couldn't they get it right the first time?

It’s not important who do the measuring
It’s not important who do the calculating
It’s only important who check and confirm the findings
And who finalise and approve the pricing
This is the group that I am targeting
Does that satisfy you questioning?

Yes, you are really talking ****, do you know who are the people doing the measuring the distance and calculating the fare? Do you know how much are they paid before you say they are over paid and under-perform?

Red Cross - 2 supervisors demoted and punished for fraud incident. SLA - no staff punished for 12 milltion fraud. SBS - no staff punished for overcharging. FAS - all players punished except the coach for poor performance; coach earns $400K a year, ave player earns $5000 a year. makes sense?
