Beware hybrids in a accidents, the batteries may short circuit and combust trapping occupants inside as doors and windows malfunction.
There is no evidence whatsoever that hybrids are more prone to catching fire compared to purely petrol driven vehicles.
Just look at the multitude of car fires caused by the internal combustion engine.
1) Double Car Explosion in Singapore KPE Tunnel
2) FIRE CALL CAR EXPLODES ON SCDF WORKER (Yio Chu Kang Road Serangoon)
If you review this video in its entirety you'll see just how much manpower had to be deployed in order to bring this fire under control not to mention the disruption it caused on the road too. The amount of road tax the driver has paid is minuscule compared to what he cost the taxpayer in bringing this fire under control.
3) Car catches fire in JEM shopping mall carpark
This fire happened in the carpark and the whole damned mall had to be evacuated because of the potential danger. Imagine how much money businesses lost because of this incident. Had the driver used a PMD there would have been way less disruption had it caught fire because the flames could have been doused in minutes with just one fire extinguisher.
4) Aftermath of car on fire in Wandervale Condominium Singapore
5) Car Caught Fire on Singapore Malaysia Causeway
The consequences of this fire in terms of disruption to the lives of other motorists is astronomical. The whole causeway came to a standstill. If you had been stuck in this jam you would have wished the driver had used a PMD instead.
6) Car caught fire and later exploded in front of CHIJMES
