POLLSTERS will contact 33,000 households across Singapore from May 18 to July 31 to gather data for a comprehensive labour force survey.
The survey, being carried out by the Manpower Research and Statistics Department of the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), will collect data on employment, unemployment and other economic characteristics of the population to help in the planning and formulation of manpower-related policies and programmes.
As the selected households are a sub-sample of the Census of Population 2010, additional socio-demographic information such as language literacy, religion, and mode of transport will be collected as well, said MOM in a statement on Tuesday.
All information will be kept strictly confidential.
Households selected for the survey will be notified by post. Those with internet access may also participate in the survey via the Manpower Survey Online System (MSOL).
Those who prefer not to participate via MSOL can give their contact details to MOM for telephone interviews through the Survey Hotline at 1800-228-6688 from 9am to 9pm daily.
Face-to-face interviews may also be conducted should households be unreachable by telephone - in which case the interviewers will carry MOM-issued identification cards. Households can verify their identity by calling the MOM Contact Centre at 6438 5122.
