Singapore Democrats

The Singapore Democrats wrote about the appalling way in which the Government was organising the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. We said that the "Singapore Government knows very little about what the sports world wants, and even less about its marketing."

In response, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports shot back and asked Dr Chee Soon Juan to see the response on the ground as the YOG made its way around the island. "The answer," Dr Balakrishnan pointed out, "lies on the ground."

You mean like this?

(YOG torch comes into view at 4:40)

The minister also took the opportunity to try to portray Singapore as a democracy. He said: "In any society there will always be people who disagree, that's fine. This is a democracy they are entitled to that."

Wrong again, dear minister. If this was really a democracy, you would be skewered by the media and the people, let alone the opposition, for running such a bad show and, worse, having the temerity to brag about it by asking people to see the non-existent response on the ground.

‘YOG a giant lead for small Singapore
AsiaOne News
(Excerpts of report)

When asked about the criticism from opposition politician Dr Chee Soon Juan, who in a recent article said that "Singapore government knows very little about what the sports world wants, and even less about its marketing," Dr Balakrishnan asked him to see the response on the ground as the torch is passed around, where Singaporeans have been participating as well as volunteers for the games and see how the national athletes are trying their best.

"The answer lies on the ground, what people do and how they feel. At this point of time, I am quite confident that Singaporeans are proud of this and want to show our best to the world. In any society there will always be people who disagree, that's fine. This is a democracy they are entitled to that," he said.

The video reporting is skewered; very amateurish and the support from the heartlands virtually zero.

Why hold a torch relay in the day when every adult is working and the local ah pek and ah soh couldn't care less of the commotion. Even the photographers are less enthusiatic about it. macham like NS field excercise; going thru motion.

What I notice from the video, the biggest winners of YOG are Cisco and ambulance services.Customised Conversion/ repainting of vehicles, big business for the local car yards. All these costs money in a sporting event and not exactly peanut sums.

The local support is definitly a far cry from Vivi's supposedly strong response. The only strong response from the locals is probably the profanity brought on by the inconvenenience it cause to daily lives and the motorist stuck in the commotion.

Hmm, ACS Doctoral Derby Debate.

Proposition: Dr Vivian

Opposition: Dr Chee

Even though Chee is the incredible (means not credible, stupid) outcast.

The answer lies on the ground?

Have to arrow ppl, forced school children to act as the crowd give freebies to greedy folks to attend, fixing up a show just to show a fake show when the real reason is ppl just don't give a fuck about the YOG!

Wasted millions to put up a fake show.

Fixing up a show, same as fixing up the opposition!

I guess it depends on the location and timing of the torch event?

The above question showed Asia One's leeporter is biased already.

Why raise CSJ's name only ? To stir shit andd to protray oppositions as opposing anything done in the country ?

Leeporter should ask VB's view on the totally lack of interests and very high % of people that do not care a hoot about YOG.

CSJ is not the only one who can see the bumbass organising and budgeting skills of the MIW and the none-existing interest in YOG.
