Beijing Guangminglou Bakery Store Explosion Already Caused 2 Dead, 19 Injured
China News Service report, Beijing, July 24 — Today [July 24] at 7:35am during rush hour, an explosion occurred in a bakery near a bus stop on Beijing Dongcheng District Guangminglouzhong Street. At present, it has already caused 21 casualties, including 2 deaths, 4 heavily injured, and 15 lightly injured.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene, there was a breakfast stall/vendor next to the bakery store, and many people were buying breakfast on their way to work at the time.
Eyewitnesses also claim that the entire window of the bakery was blown away. According to the Beijing Fire Department, this incident was caused by a gas explosion, and at present, the fire has basically been put out. Firefighters have removed two 50kg liquid gas storage tanks from within the bakery. While information from the Beijing Police says it has basically ruled out the possibility of this being a deliberate bombing/explosion for the time being.
