Bail for SA 'fake doctor' teenager
Monday, July 29, 2013 » 04:45pm

An SA teenager accused of masquerading as a doctor has been granted bail with a strict warning.
A teenager accused of repeatedly masquerading as a doctor has been warned the law will come down on him 'like a ton of bricks' if he even hints at having medical qualifications.
In granting the 17-year-old bail on Monday, Justice Timothy Anderson said the youth would get no sympathy and would be 'in big trouble' if he breached his new strict bail conditions.
The youth applied to the South Australian Supreme Court for bail, after twice being refused it in the Adelaide Youth Court when he was charged with persistently and repeatedly breaching his previous bail.
He's been charged with offences including giving false medical treatment to a girl who fell from a scooter in January and to falsely reporting his identity or qualifications.
The alleged repeated bail breaches included possessing medical equipment and identification, such as an emergency technician badge, a digital thermometer and a jacket with a paramedic badge.
Justice Anderson imposed a string of bail conditions including a 7pm to 7am curfew, reporting to police every weekday, receiving psychological treatment and not holding himself out to be a medical worker.
'If you even hint at doing anything prevented by these bail conditions, the law will come down on you like a ton of bricks,' the judge said.
'I hope you have learned your lesson.'
The youth replied: 'I have, your honour', before being warned again that police knew of his activities and 'you would be pretty stupid if you do anything wrong'.
The matter will return to the Youth Court in September.
