Baey Yam Keng wants ‘harsh penalty’ for PRC man who caused fatal accident at Budget Terminal
Posted by temasektimes on March 18, 2012

Embattled PAP MP for Tampines GRC Baey Yam Keng has ‘condemned’ the 30 year old PRC man who caused a fatal accident at the Budget Terminal on Saturday morning this time instead of asking Singaporeans to ‘reflect’ on themselves as in Sun Xu case.

A 34 year old Malaysian cleaner was killed on the spot at the Budget terminal after being hit by a taxi driven by a 30 year old PRC man. According to ComfortDelGro spokesperson Tammy Tan, the taxi driver was driving the PRC man to the airport when they somehow got into an argument.

Upon reaching the destination, the PRC passenger refused to pay the taxi driver and started to attack him. He then got into the taxi and drove off hitting the cleaner at the driveway in front of the Budget Terminal moments later.

The unfortunate accident shocked the entire nation, prompting some netizens to ask for Mr Baey’s opinion on his Facebook:

In response to queries from a netizen who asked him if he would now ask Singaporean taxi drivers to ‘reflect on themselves for creating the tension and argument with the PRC killer,’ Mr Baey replied:

“This is such a heinous act of crime. The culprit must receive a harsh penalty and punishment. My sympathy goes to the taxi driver Mr Yeow and the family of Mr Chandra Mogan.”

Mr Baey’s response this time appeared to contrast his immediate reaction to NUS PRC scholar Sun Xu’s infamous remark on there ‘being more dogs than humans in Singapore.’

In an interview with a local tabloid on the Sun Xu saga, Mr Baey tried to obfuscate Sun’s infamous remark on the ‘dogs’ to suggest that he might mean something else:

“Even his comment about the dogs – it might not literally mean that, it might mean something else, even though it is definitely not something positive.”

He ended the interview calling on Singaporeans to reflect upon themselves:

“We should take this opportunity to reflect upon ourselves, but we should (also) be confident of ourselves. Even though some of us are like that, majority of Singaporeans are gracious, there are good people in Singapore.”

Unfortunately, Mr Baey’s sudden change of ‘tune’ this time did not convince many netizens as illustrated by these comments on fuckwarezone forum:

“sibeh wayang….. wanna use this incident to “redeem” himself ah?” – Charlie_Zhang

“The taxi driver should reflect himself for causing distress to the china guy.” – hydro77

“Trying to win back the pple, bit by bit….nothing personal, just political nia..” – GenesisX

Why news like to use terms like 'embattled MP'?
In what way is he 'embattled'?
He is still sitting comfortably in his office jiak liao bee and pocketing the monthly 15k allowance.
Nothing has changed, still status quo.

Harsh penalty in PAP jurisprudence for FT would be 1 day prison.Like going to school and returning in the evening.

A precedent already exist. A Malay was killed while a SPH Chinese editor was driving and speaking on the phone.

At least the PRC has valid mitigation that he was drunk whereas the SPH Chinese editor was not.Hence I suppose a half day prison term would be pleaded on his behalf. That would be PAP justice.

past records have shown that our gov is quite merciful with FTs. don't forget, behind every PRC there is big brother china GEGE. just like the ang mo who ran down so many people, he got ROMANIAN ABANG. what could the pap do? pick on us easier :(

So who was behind the SPH Chinese editor who ran down and killed a local born Malay; and got way with 1 day jail sentence?....Certainly not China.

flip flop maestro baey playing to the crowd no doubt ..from talking down to sinkie to for sinkies...

now who asked for his opinion ?

unless WE ARE MISUNDERSTOOLED once more, again, repeatedly

baey's forte maybe should be together with his buddy tay ping hui. he should be a mediacorpse actor or part-tiem also can. he might surpass tay and get all the lime and lemon light he craves for despeartely.

hi there

1. tsk tsk tsk!
2. who really needs some response from a daft sheep?
3. which it only responds to instructions from its grand masters.

most of these mps when speaking impromptu appears like speaking without any mindful cow sense. this we could pardon them cos talking impromptuly could be quite stressful and required immediate reflex sometime bypassing the brain, i.e, they speak through their butts.

however, when posting in FB, what they wanna express already gone through their brain then transmitted into their fingers and finally key out onto the screen which is read, checked and ENTERed before the final words appear in FB. if that could be made ambiguous, then obviously some of this mps have been grossly overpaid to do their job properly and effectively.

Should charge the taxi driver for allowing the dog to drive off the taxi as the taxi driver was so unmotivated to ensure that his taxi was not hijacked?
Should seek compensation from the cleaner's family for messing up the airport with the deceased's remains?
Should compensate the dog for his distress as Singaporeans did not make him feel wanted?
Should reward the dog for showing the country that the cabbie was so unmoticated to stop the dog from hijacking the taxi?
Should compensate the dog for his inconvenience as the airport was in his way when he tried to flee because he felt threatened by a daft & unmotivated taxi driver?

this case is pending. inevitably, the PRC might get a fine depending on who's the big brother that could be backing him.

it's quite ludicrous that baey would post in his FB to suggest "stricter punishment" while in another case of the tax-payers sponsored PRC scholar, he sang a different tune and even suggested us to "reflect on ourselves".

Fine, community service before he can graduate

The Chinese undergraduate who sparked an online furore after making derogatory comments about Singaporeans will have to pay a fine and perform community service if he wants to graduate.

This is the first time a student has been ordered to perform community service if he or she wants to graduate, said a spokesman for the National University of Singapore (NUS).

In an internal circular to students, the university provost, Professor Tan Eng Chye, said that 25-year-old Sun Xu's comments were 'improper, insensitive and disrespectful to the community' and had 'stirred up considerable unease, distrust and ill-will within and beyond the university community'.

The final-year engineering student has been fined $3,000, given an official reprimand and will be required to complete three months of community service before he is allowed to graduate, said the university.

ah baey should now ask NUS to reflect on their overly harsh punishment meted out to the poor rich ungrateful PRC brat.
