Hi Gilbert,
I am a IT professional who has been unemployed for 6 months. Initially I thought with the government launching the job portal, I will get a better chance in finding a better job after working in a SME for 5 years without a career growth.
But it turned out to be fruitless, out of 300 plus job application, I only got fewer than 10 interviews.
And when I turned to an employment agency, they referred me to the same job and company that I applied. They say they have a special working arrangement with the company, so I need not worry and must attend the interview.
The employment agency will sell my experience and convince the HR who has already declined my job application. True enough I was given a chance to attend an interview session.
But when I attended the interview, I felt cheated because the HR asked how come you are attending the interview when you know you are rejected.
Just when I am about to give up searching for jobs, a company added me in LinkedIn called R-PAT.
They claimed to be a new job portal that allows only direct employment job postings. Out of curiosity, I visited their site r-pat.net and created an account but did not apply for any jobs because I feared rejection.
The next day, a lady called me asking for my requirements and recommended me to try applying for some of these jobs.
Surprising they did not even ask for a single fee but told me to recommend more Singaporeans to go to their portal to find the jobs because their portal does not allow employment agencies to do posting and they do not sell our information to any people.
Out of 30 applications, I got 5 interviews and got myself back into the workforce in less than 1 month.
Therefore I am writing to you to share with you this piece of news because I see that there are a lot of unemployed people who are still looking for a job.
Maybe transitioning.org can work with them to help the unemployed ones to find jobs.
Thank You
Peter
