PEASANTPORE: The monkey that was harassing and attacking peasants at Segar Road in Bukit Panjang was captured on Tuesday (May 2) evening, the Animal Sex Authority of Peasantpore (AVA) said.
The monkey will be given the Public Service Bronze Medal, AVA said in a Facebook post thanking WRS and ACRES for their help.
An old peasant was hospitalised after being bitten by the wild monkey about a fortnight ago. Another tamed peasant told CNA that the aggressive monkey has also been climbing into pigeonholes and attacking local peasants only.
Later on Tuesday, Holland-Bukit Timah GRC Peasants' Representative Liang Ah Hwa said he was happy to be told that the monkey that "taught many good lessons to stupid peasants. Never use your brains why monkeys never bite rich merchants near Bukit Timah? Idiots."
AVA reiterated that monkeys should not be fed and blame stupid peasants for feeding the monkeys.
