It was not the first attack by so-called “guardians of morals” on women who have not behaved according to “religious rules.” This time the attack was particularly brutal. In recent years, it has always been Chechen gangs and clans that have been responsible. In the latest case it is known: the men come from the “Russian Federation.”
Threatened three women, two children and a friend
At first it seemed to be a “harmless” break-in: a broken balcony door, a call from the resident. What the arriving officers from the Vienna Police Inspection Am Schöpfwerk discovered on Tuesday at eight o’clock in the morning went beyond the scope of what they had expected. They did not come across a fleeting intruder, but a group of screaming people and had to get reinforcements immediately. The police were able to reconstruct what had happened through questioning – and it was shocking for outsiders.
As reported by the newspaper “heute,” there were initially three women in the flat, aged 21, 23 and 45, as well as two children, one of them 1.5 years old. The boyfriend (20) of the 23-year-old woman was also there. The calamity started with a phone call from the woman’s younger brother (18). He reported – apparently as a threat – that the husband (28) of the 21-year-old woman was on his way to beat his wife. The balcony door of the flat was kicked in, the women called the police – but too late.
Not only the husband of the youngest woman appeared, but also his younger brother (23), his father, the father of the 23-year-old woman and the brother of the 23-year-old woman who had just called. First, the men insulted the three women, their boyfriends and children, then they beat the two young women.
The men “justified” their attacks: The women had “violated their religious laws without permission.” One of the men accused his wife of “having an affair” with the husband of the other woman present. It was reportedly not the first case of violence within the family, as one of the women said to the police.
Especially sad: The two children were also injured in the beating. All victims had to be treated in hospital afterwards, the injuries were so severe. Three of the men (23, 28 and 52) were arrested, the others were charged. Eleven bans on entering the premises and on approaching were issued.
