An Italian woman of Kosovar origin (19) who has family connections to the Vienna assassin Kujtim F. has been arrested by the police in Milan for alleged terrorist activities. The young woman has been a staunch supporter of the “Islamic State” (IS) for three years, the police said.
The investigation was triggered by an intelligence report on the girl’s husband, a 21-year-old Kosovar whom she married in January and who was related to the Vienna attacker. The police said hundreds of images of “executions of unbelievers” with beheadings were found on the cellphones of the arrested. The woman described herself as a member of the terrorist group “Lions of the Balkans”.
She wanted to sacrifice her life to IS
The woman who joined the group three years ago had made phone calls to volunteer to sacrifice her life for the “Islamic State”. The Milanese public prosecutor Alberto Nobili, who led the counterterrorism investigation, spoke of the woman’s “horrific phone calls”.
On November 2, 2020, the 20-year-old Kujtim F. killed four people with several firearms in downtown Vienna and injured numerous others, some seriously. The IS sympathizer was shot dead by the police.
