“Asylum seekers filmed the execution video posted in Lower Austria,” translated from “Asylwerber drehten in NÖ gestelltes Hinrichtungsvideo,” Salzburger Nachrichten, November 26, 2020 (thanks to Medforth):
The day after the attack in Vienna, six young Afghan asylum seekers produced and posted an execution video in the Pottendorf Palace Park (Baden district). Mayor Thomas Sabbata-Valteiner (SPÖ) observed the filming on November 3rd and filed a complaint, the daily newspaper “Heute” reported on Thursday. According to the police, no weapons were used in the “playfully recreated scene”.
The video was secured, the executive said on request. The State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism (LVT) is currently dealing with the content. The motives and backgrounds of the young people between the ages of 14 and 17 are still unclear, the recording still has to be translated. Only then can it be determined whether there is a criminal offense.
The teenagers said, according to “Today”, that such clips were “perfectly normal” in their culture and that it was a joke. FPÖ chairman Norbert Hofer identified a mockery of the victims of the attack in Vienna and demanded that the people involved and their parents be expelled: “This culture, which the young people talk about, has no place in our country.” Anyone who thinks something like this is funny and “shares such situations as videos in social networks has no place in our society.”
“Today’s playful execution is tomorrow’s terrorist attack,” said Lower Austria’s FPÖ Provincial Councilor Gottfried Waldhäusl about the recording. The Waldviertel also called for “immediate deportations” and brought up the asylum accommodation in Drasenhofen (Mistelbach district), with which he had caused a sensation almost exactly two years ago. The “neighborhood scandalized by do-gooders without common sense” was designed “precisely for such cases of young asylum seekers”.
