Australian priest charged with sexual assault

So many bad news coming out of Australia recently. Guess another one won't hurt.....


SYDNEY, Australia - Australian police say they have arrested a Catholic priest and another man and charged them with a total of 35 child sex offenses against teenage boys in the 1970s.

The 63-year-old priest was arrested Thursday and charged with 22 offenses relating to alleged attacks on two 12-year-old brothers in and around Newcastle, 100 miles (160 kilometers) north of Sydney.

Police have declined to release the man's identity. He is the third Newcastle priest to be charged with past sex offenses this year.

The second man, also not identified, was charged with 13 offenses against one of the brothers and two other teen victims.

Pope Benedict XVI visited Australia in July and publicly condemned sexual predators in the church, apologizing to their victims
