China on Friday said it would impose anti-dumping measures on Australian wine, in a further ramping up of tensions between Beijing and Canberra.

Importers of Australian wine will have to pay deposits of 107.1 percent to 212.1 percent starting Saturday, China's commerce ministry said.

China – Australia's biggest trade partner – has threatened economic retaliation since Canberra called for an inquiry into the COVID-19 pandemic, and has already suspended some timber and beef imports.

On Friday, the Ministry of Commerce said it was taking the temporary measure in response to "substantive harm caused to the relevant domestic wine industry".

Wine exports to China hit a record A$1.3 billion (US$900 million) last year, according to Australian government data, making it the biggest market by value for the product.

Shares in Treasury Wine Estates Limited – which owns the popular Penfolds brands – sank more than 11 percent on the news.

China people are rich. They have no problem buying all the Australia wine at this higher price.
Chicom can impose all kinds of wine tax or anti-dumping Shit they want.

how is aust wine compared to european or canadian wine har? moi only know red and white

The long drought season make bad wine. Grape fruit trees need plenty of water or the wine will taste bad.

Aussie government will backtrack their anti-china plays. Trump is getting evicted from the white house. Stupid to fight alone

That idiot doesn't know anything. Every decent wine drinker knows great wine years coincide with el nino. The hot weather makes the sugar in the grapes more concentrated
In our weather, you need wine on the rocks.

So fast the wide lee touted RCEP be cum use less ah.

Fuck you. Wet weather make better wine. Ask French.

Stuff El nino into yr arse feel good.

Aussie wine not so nice. For white wine, NZ's sauvignon blanc/ sth African/ chardonnay/ Chenin blancs are yummy to go with seafood/chicken/vegetarian/cheese/salad dishes. For Reds - Argentinian/ Italian/ Rioja/ some merlots and malbecs are fabulous for red meat dishes...Desserts are yummy to go with sauternes, muscat or the palatable/economical moscato d'asti.

There so many things here in Australia is cheaper then Singapore!

I every week eat fresh salmon and once a month I eat 2 dozen of fresh oysters and weekends I Have half a cup of red wine eat with oysters lah

Shiok!!!
