[h=2]Aussie expat Troy Parry: I will not apologise because what I said still stands[/h]Posted by temasektimes on May 10, 2012
Instead of apologizing to Singaporeans for hurting their feelings for his unwarranted outburst that Singaporeans who asked him if he has served National Service are all ‘MORONS’, Australian expatriate Troy Parry said he will stand by his words.
Parry has earlier chided Singaporeans to stop behaving like ‘babies’ prompting a sharp rebuke from a Singapore NSman Dennis Chua who asked him to ‘shut up’ if he did not serve National Service:

Dennis’ words touched a raw nerve on Parry who replied callously:
“‎Have you served National Service in Singapore?” <— that’s the only thing that SINGAPOREANS can ever retaliate with. What if I have? My opinion is still the same. What if a female made the same comment? MORONS…”

In a clarification posted on Facebook, Troy Parry insists that his words were taken out of context:

He also refused to apologize:

According to information posted on his linkedin account, Troy is currently working as an independent Information Technology and Services professional:

Mr Troy Parry who claimed he is now working in the Singapore Police Force, has since lodged several complaints to Facebook and Media Development Authority of Singapore to close down those Facebooks which dared to criticize him.

National service is a useless service and a total waste of time, It is a tool came up by the PAP to control the mind of all male Singaporeans. This fucker Troy Parry has shown all male Singaporeans how useless our National service really is.

Parents of NS man are actually subsidising the PAP as they are paying for their son's upkeep.

I agree with Troy wholeheartedly. Singaporeans are a bunch of spoilt brats. They live such privileged lives that most minor of inconveniences is blown way out of proportion.

We need more like him to put sinkies in their place.

Dumb sinkies forever flaunting the fact that they served national slavery. How pathetic.

Having gone through NS, I can assure ALL the foreigners who happen to come across this thread that it is no big deal. In fact, it was a breeze.... probably the best period of my life.

From what I hear, NS is even easier nowadays. A boy scout camp is probably harder.

I was part of the Jaudi training camp. They taught us FIBUA too.

Of course there are times when you're put under stress but it was nothing compared to the stresses of real working life.

NS is no big sacrifice. It's fun.

I am quite sure NS life is more stressful. Physically and mentality compare to my cosy job. Free time just fly to holiday anywhere i want to go at my whim.

I have done shit things like chiong mountain with a mortar barrel on my back... not the small toy 60mm or 80mm mortar...

and I also say that NS is probably the best period of my life... :D

The point is that male "Sporeans" have paid their dues. Whereas foreigners can just waltz in & take their jobs.

I blame their parents, the 60% who allowed this to happen. As Sporeans they should have priority & should have held the PAP accountable.

NS is a privilege that foreigners are not allowed to enjoy.

The Israelis did that as an experiment. They didn't manpack the 120mm. They towed it.

There are many places where the towing carriage cannot go... so you have break it up and manpack.

It was a standard practice, not an experiment.

The 120mm mortar is the largest mortar that can be "carried" by a team of 3.

I don't know what the men of arty are doing these days, but in the past the SAF expected the NS guys to push a gun carriage & carry the mortar. You had men carrying the mortar on these long route marches which lasted for days.

Unsurprisingly many of them ended up with back injuries.

As far as I know, no Israeli unit ever went on a freakin' route March with a 120mm mortar barrel.

You can also say that working in Spore is a privilege & this angmo doesn't deserve this privilege;)

Working in Singapore is a calling. The Singapore govt asked for help from foreigners and those who have responded should be appreciated.
