A woman was seen climbing into a void deck textile recycling bin, allegedly to retrieve donated clothing.

According to a Mothership reader, the incident occurred under Block 988B Jurong West Street 93 at around 11:43pm on Apr. 2.

Holding grabber tool​

One of the women stood on a red stool, her head inside the donation bin as another woman used her phone's flashlight to brighten the bin's interior.

The reader said one of the women was holding a grabber, the kind used for picking litter.

The Mothership reader said this was the first time she had seen this happen at the recycling bin.

The reader added that she was in a rush to get back and did not stay long enough to see if the women took any clothes out.

Cloop​

These yellow recycling bins were installed by local clothes swap organisation Cloop.


The bins are meant for textile recycling.

In a previous response to Mothership's queries, a Cloop spokesperson said that "there have been a number of similar situations before, where people have attempted to take items from the textile recycling bins".

Before this incident, a few women climbed into a bin at Bedok North on Feb. 2, 2026.

A man also squeezed into a bin in Sengkang on Feb. 16, 2025.

The spokesperson previously said Cloop has been working with its recycling partner, Lifeline Clothing, to handle such incidents.

Cloop monitors bins​

As part of Cloop's preventive measures, surveillance cameras have been installed in areas with high recycling volume.


Bins are also positioned near existing CCTVs, and the organisation works with the community to monitor the bins.

Members of the public who witness such incidents are advised to record the date and time of the incident and the bin number.

As the bonuses of PAP ministers are directly tied to the economic performance of the country, alongside other socio-economic indicators, the govt won't bother about overcrowding or rising cost of living. They are living in GCBs and just need to increase their own pay to afford the luxuries that are not available to the man-in-the-street S'porean.
