Singapore Airlines flight bound for Auckland has been forced to Ōhakea over runway closure

Passengers were not getting off the plane in Ōhakea, as the stay at the military base was expected to be short.
A Singapore Airlines flight has been diverted to Ōhakea after a brief runway closure at Auckland Airport prompted the diversion and delay of multiple flights.
Singapore Airlines flight SQ285 landed at Ōhakea, near Palmerston North.
A New Zealand Defence Force spokesman said the plane, an A380, would be "promptly refuelled" before departing Ōhakea.
"Given the expected brief stay at Ōhakea, passengers will not be disembarked."

A Singapore Airlines plane was diverted to Ōhakea for refuelling on Friday.
Auckland Airport said two international and three domestic flights were diverted from the airport during the closure.
"A number of other flights were held in the air."
The runway had since reopened after some maintenance which was resolved within 30 minutes, an Airways spokeswoman said.
However, she said there were no ongoing issues and it was back to "business as usual".
Six Air New Zealand turboprop aircrafts due to land at Auckland Airport were diverted to Tauranga, Rotorua and Hamilton after debris was found on the runway, an Air NZ spokesperson said.
The flights would refuel before heading back to Auckland.

Four Air NZ regional flights departing from Auckland Airport were delayed, the spokesperson said.
"There has been no impact to the airline's jet services."
Labour MP Marja Lubeck, whose flight from Wellington was delayed, took the opportunity to enjoy some "extra lovely views".

Auckland Airport said runway integrity was its "highest priority".
"We have a comprehensive aerodrome management programme which includes a physical inspection of the runway four times in every 24 hour period.
"On occasion Auckland Airport will temporarily close the runway to allow closer inspection of a particular area and/or undertake maintenance if required."
