He then tried to stop her from screaming by pushing the victim further into the shop and pinning her to the ground.During their struggle, a sales associate heard the screams and went to check. The sales associate shouted at the man and the shop owner managed to break free and flee.However, the man then used a mannequin display stand to hit the head of the sales associate three times.Police was called and later, the man was found hiding on the sixth floor, in the fire exit staircase area.In sentencing, District Judge noted that this was the first time the accused broke the law. However, the Judge did point out that if the sales associate did not appear in time, the offence could have been more serious.The man admitted to 3 charges. He could have been jailed for 2 years for criminal intimidation.

3 charges can be filed here:

a) indecent exposure - clad only in a T-shirt and red underwear

b) attempted rape / molest / criminal intimidation intent - like rape then robbery or even murder, who knows.

c) causing bodily hurt - used a mannequin display stand to hit the head of the sales associate three times.

$5k fine is too little. Prosecution and the victims should press for jailable term or higher fines, a criminal record and file with ICA and MOM to revoke the work permit for this person, and expel him from S'pore.

Harsh punishment is not good when the Leegime is rampantly kissing the ass of the Burmese junta regime. Good for investments, you know? ;)

Even the recent act of letting Aung San Suu Kyi come to Singapore was nothing more than an act to generate good PR for the Burmese regime.

Is there a precedent to getting just a fine for attempted rape in Singapore? This is news to me. If AG does not appeal the sentence, it just confirms that the judiciary is in the PAP's pocket.
