This man is a racist,sort of.Politically that is.But in business he played fair..A lot of Chinese and some Indians benefited ...So said many matland Chinese I spoke to...I always thought the matland Chinese hated him like hell..But some of our fellow Chinese in matland pointed out that it was the Chinese votes that saved his neck whereas the Malay votes were split among PAS & Anwar...

Politics apart this man Dr.M thought of Malays first and still left some other races.

I was told during a looming crisis this Dr.M went shopping in some supermarket and found some food shelves practically empty and sensed trouble and he quickly acted to prevent another racial riot..

I found it interesting that when Dr. Mahathir was a doctor he never turned away the poor patients in Alor Star. When he became PM he still had people coming up to him to pay their debt.

Another interesting aspect of this racist is that during the Japs occupation he went around posting anti-Japs poster risking his life...But we have someone working as Japs interpreter..

Majority local singaporean chinese still live in the past in spectre of race riots.
They see Malays as threat so they think PRCs are here to dilute them. To them, it is a good thing they will regret in future.
