At least 10 people have been injured in an explosion at a restaurant Tongzhou district, Beijing, this morning.

A breakfast café or restaurant collapsed after its gas tank exploded at 7:20 am, injuring at least ten, Beijing newspaper The Mirror reported on Sina Weibo, citing internet users in the neighbourhood.

More than fire trucks were at the scene, and 10 victims had been rushed to hospital, the newspaperposted.

Several photos posted online by a nearby resident showed several injured lying on the pavement.

“My neighbours who were driving past the restaurant when the explosion took place were also injured,” the resident who identified herself as “Yezi, Douzi’s Mom” wrote on Sina Weibo.

The powerful blast also blew out windows of the building on the other side of the street, wrote another microblogger who identified himself as WJVincent, who lives in the neighbourhood.
