A STOMPer and her wheelchair bound mum faced difficulties travelling via the MRT due to lift maintenance carried out at not one, but two stations.

What's the point of upgrading and installing lifts, when no backup plan is executed when the lifts breakdown or undergo maintenance, questions this STOMPer.

In an MMS on July 17, the contributor says:

"Bad experience for my mum who is wheelchair bound taking the MRT from Novena to Sengkang.
"The lift outside Tan Tock Seng Hospital to the MRT was down for maintenance for more than 3 hours.

"Then at Dhoby Ghaut mrt, transiting to NEL line, she was faced with another case of lift breakdown and I had to bring her out of the station to crossover the main road to transit to the NEL.

"There is no contingency plan for the disabled.

"Single point of failure.

"If fire broke out, it would be very dangerous.

"SMRT and SBS should have a fallback plan and lift maintenance should be done at a appropriate timing."

Approach SMRT Staff for help lah and if cannot find staff, press any red buttons available at the platform loh or break the glass panel of the fire alarm surely they will come to you, dont everything rely on smrt, use ur brain and take a taxi if you want. GET IT??
