Cable fault likely cause of service disruption between Kranji and Yew Tee MRT

=> In other words, they are still not sure of the real cause!

Passengers travelling on a stretch of the North-South line were affected by a train service disruption that lasted about an hour and a half on Saturday afternoon.

<!-- /tab-gallery-area -->SINGAPORE: Passengers travelling on a stretch of the North-South line were affected by a train service disruption between the Kranji and Yew Tee MRT stations that lasted about an hour and a half on Saturday afternoon.
Rail operator SMRT said it is likely that a cable fault caused the disruption.

Some passengers on the way to Kranji MRT station had to get off and walk along elevated tracks after train services stalled around 12.30pm.

SMRT said it is likely a cable fault led to a loss in traction power between the Kranji and Yew Tee MRT stations.

The cables supply electricity to the traction power system.

Free bus bridging services then had to be deployed between Woodlands and Yew Tee MRT stations.

Some of the free bus bridging services departed from Choa Chu Kang bus interchange.

Those who boarded bus bridging services there said it was no easy feat getting to Kranji MRT.

They were headed there to catch buses that would ferry them across the Causeway.

One commuter said the bus was very crowded, while another said: "We don't know where we should wait for the bus, we just saw a group of people, and we joined them. There was no proper arrangement, or proper signage to let us know (where we should take the bus)."

=> In other words, nothing has changed with the whole bunch of multi-million-dollar paper generals now in charge! Can anything change for the better under the FAP Traitors, if it has not gotten worse?

The service disruption and large crowds at affected stations meant some ended up missing scheduled appointments.

Yeo Ciu Peng, another affected commuter said: "I booked a ticket back to Malacca but I can't make it in time now. I wanted to take the bus back to Malacca to celebrate my dad's birthday. I wasn't able to, so I'm quite sad about it."

=> No complaint lah! Make SGD and can have 2.5x or more spending power back in kampong!

Others chose to wait it out for almost an hour at the affected train stations for services to resume.

Train services resumed just after 2pm, and the free bus bridging services ceased close to 3pm.

SMRT said its engineers will rectify the issue after operation hours.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) also said it will work with SMRT to investigate the incident.

LTA added that it regrets the inconvenience caused to commuters who had to detrain as well as commuters who were inconvenienced during the service disruption.

These former SAF officer trash like to make bold claims and use bombastic words when speaking, but good luck if you expect them to get any meaningful job done.

With these clowns put in positions of leadership, this country is utterly ruined.

Notice the fucking useless LTA and SMRT responses??

"is likely a cable fault led to a loss in traction power between the Kranji and Yew Tee MRT stations" - simi lj is likely? Paid so much salary can only say likely??

"SMRT said its engineers will rectify the issue after operation hours." - simi lj is will rectify? so how many more faults to rectify har?

"The Land Transport Authority (LTA) also said it will work with SMRT to investigate the incident." - simi lj is will work with? u mean last time never work with arh?

FUCKING USELESS TEMPLATES responses!

On the contrary. I fully understand that no man made system works 100% of the time. Things will always go wrong and this will happen regardless of who is running the show.

In 2005, the whole Swiss railway system, world renowned for its reliability and punctuality, ground to a halt for more than 3 hours because of a power failure.

They too are facing ongoing problems of insufficient maintenance and overcrowding.

[h=4]Maintenance lag[/h]The rail network may have been extended, but the maintenance of the infrastructure has not, which the company has recently acknowledged. However, it points out that the overall quality is still high.

Federal Railways, which is government owned but operates as a private company, at the end of September asked for SFr1 billion for immediate repairs and a further SFr100-250 million per year for future needs.

Experts say that the problems started in 2004 when the Rail2000 rail extension project resulted in an explosion of passenger numbers, almost twice the number expected.

"What we are experiencing now is a little bit the bill for this big jump, we did it very quickly and caused a lot of new transport and mobility. Now we feel the capacity problems in each section of the rail transport sector," said transport economist Markus Maibach, who works for the Infras consulting company.

Small and isolated case. No worries.

Cannot compare an inter-city system with an intra-city one, plus Sinkieland got no mountains or snow.

SMRT had no such problems last time... guess the system is getting old? Not enough maintenance? Still dare to increase transportation fares?!
