Slow bus speeds: What happened to efficiency?

<!-- by line --><!-- end by line -->

THE Land Transport Authority (LTA) regulates bus speeds and route schedules. It also mandates bus-bay approach and exit speeds.
Bus drivers are penalised for not keeping closely to schedules. Those on routes with generous running times drive at speeds of 30kmh or 40kmh, or even slower. But this compromises efficiency and speed consistency.
The LTA scores for attempting to ensure bus safety and regularity, but SBS Transit, especially, fails in efficiency. It is even worse when slow driving speeds follow a long wait for the bus. Have drivers been penalised for this?
A motorised vehicle should not run at bicycle speeds. LTA should ensure bus operators optimise speeds closer to the upper limits. This allows drivers to judge for themselves when to speed up without compromising safety.

Anthony Lee most kind to say bicycle speed, one have take one that terminate at the bus interchange, the tortoise walking next to the bus goes faster, they will hum to you,BUY A CAR..BUY CAR...BUY A CAR..!!!:p

All buses should have speed limit of 40 kmph .

For safety of passengers .
