PM Lee Hsien Loong officially launched the Pioneer Generation Cards today which will help people quickly identify Pioneer Generation Singaporeans so that they can know if they are eligible for certain schemes, especially in healthcare.
An event was held at the People's Association headquarters in Lavender today where PM Lee gave a speech and thanked about 100 pioneer generation Singaporeans in attendance.
Mr Lee explained that in total, about 450,000 cards would be distributed and he said that Medialink Printing Services, who are in charge of making the cards, and SingPost are working to get them all out by the end of this month.
Seniors will be able to start using the cards next month to receive special subsidies and schemes as part of the PGP.
PM Lee said that this is part of Singapore's way of saying thank you to the pioneers who helped to build Singapore up to what it is today.
He added: “I hope this PG package... which you will get this evening, will help you with your healthcare needs, and give you and your family peace of mind.”
In the mail, seniors will receive a Pioneer Generation welcome package which will contain the card, as well as information on the Community Health Assist Scheme clinics near their homes and a small booklet detailing the various benefits of the Pioneer Generation Package.
