Enough of this 'most expensive city ' debate. At the end of the day, u should ask yourself whether u r better off now than say in the late 90s or early 2000. R u better able to afford the good life, that condo, that shiny BM 5 series, that yearly holiday to the Bahamas, that AP watch...etc. Unless u want to stuck in the bottom rung of the ladder and happy with the garment explanation that if u just eat hawker food, take bus and live in 3 room HDB - u r ok!! I guess that's where Sinkapore is heading under this garment leadership!! All the FTs will be living it up with the high life and the Sinkies in a separate economy in the HDB estate. Sure the FTs will pay higher for the good life but their pay and benefits will more than compensate and they being higher management will depress local wages as we r being 'protected' by garment in terms of subsidies!!

You have just highlighted the concept of quality of life versus the minimum to survive in a country. I'll hazard a guess that the golden period for Singapore is in the 90s, since then everything has been going down hill since.

More important is how old & young "lesser mortals" Sporeans are going to survive in the Spore the PAP has created:confused:
If you are not a millionaire it is going to be a struggle.

Life is definitely better and richer for the MIW at the expense of the ordinary stupid sinkees.

Life got better in the 70s and 80s thanks to LKY. It then got even better in the 90s thanks to GCT.

In the 21st century, my life reached new heights thanks to LHL.

The sum total of the amount of good these 3 men have done has made my life complete. I could not ask for anything more.

There could really be 18 levels of hell after death.... So try not to lie too often.

anybody who believes the quality if life is measured by materialistic values will end up disappointed.

This PHUA CHEE BYE YAO SIEW KIA HAM KAR CHAN MIWs has destroyed this city from 2000 onwards. Till today this LAO CHEE BYE KIAs getting more and more greedy. When their doomsday comes , these CHAO CHEE BYE LAO YAO SIEW will have their CHEE BYES stuff with wriggling worms and moulds, LJs chop off by parangs, and their billions of dollar being rob by the shitizens.

For those of us in our 40s and 50s, its also a case of us being more expensive compared to FTs. Once we were valued for our experience and with less FTs around, we were also more in demand and it was the classic demand vs supply scenario.

But agree with TS that generally, people have become less optimistic of a better tomorrow, especially for those with kids. Sad state of things indeed.....

10-15 years ago, anyone picking used cans stood out like a sore thumb.

now every crook and nooks got cardboard pickers, can collectors and fighting over them as well.

that is progress

Life is better! We got Casinos, Football Betting, More Gals in KTV and Geylang to choose from....definitely Better :D

pap pulled a veil over our eyes, in fact life has not been better compared to 10 to 15 years ago, their self proclaim that lives are better these days are political motivated, to show how well the 3 have done for sinkieland.

so much better one of them have to steal toothpick and boast about it?

Life is never better with overcrowding. Too bad those ivory tower-dwelling twits don't understand that.

To every FTsh and PR working and living in this country, it is paradise. Things work in this country while their own homelands are just shit holes. To the locals, this country is now hell. Struggling to earn a living is a daily hassle. Even ah tiongs picking up drink cans and card boards around Geylang also wanted to chase away local ah pehs doing the same collection. What a shit the Govt has done.

@ginfreely live a very miserable life now than 10-15 years ago :frown:

Life and progress could have been splendid if this generation of leaders could harness Singapore supremacy, be it technology or efficiency. Too bad they are just copying from 10 years series and didnt work out of box.

Wow this is some old thread.....i remember feeling alot more frustrated back then 2011 2013....but now I think sinkies are getting more numb and used to it.....acclimatised to the bullshyt already.
