Despite having the scholarship offered and sponsored by Singaporean taxpayers’ monies, Singaporeans are not eligible for the ASEAN scholarship. In the website of Singapore’s latest university [Source], the Singapore University of Technology and Design(SUTD), the scholarship is only open to ”Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) and International Students (IS) of ASEAN* (except Singapore) nationality”. No Singaporean is hence allowed to apply for the scholarship.

This is yet another evidence that Singaporeans are third class citizens in their own country.

Asean Scholarship is meant to attract foreign talent. In the same way, Sinkies won't be applying for S-Pass or Pee Pass as these are for foreigners.
The scholarship is one of the reasons for the brain drain issue in Malaysia.

There are many scholarships exclusively for Sinkies but these are either offered by the ministries or private enterprises. That said, it is true that it is easier for Malaysians to win an Asean Scholarship than for Sinkies to land with a Shell scholarship or the likes.

Yes. ASEAN scholarships been around for decades......no issues previously but now most of them have caught up......its time for them to relook into relevance of such scholarships.
