ASEAN was formed many years before the formation of the European Union.

The EU introduced the Euro (Maastrict Treaty) which replaced the currencies of the other member states, with the exception of UK.

The EU allows free movement of people of other member states.

EU citizens are free to purchase homes in other member states.

Why isn't ASEAN adopting the same system as the EU?

Because ASEAN is not a trading block. It started out as a political block to fight evil communism.
Ever wonder why EU is in the mess today?

U complain so much about FT now U want to give Free movement rights to SG to Asean members? R U Mad?

Why ASEAN pales?bacause EU has a powerful Germany.
ASEAN has Indonesia supported from behind by a self-assured Singapore.
No matter,both will die soon.

ASEAN made up of sweat shops hiring children and profit goes to middle men. ASEAN will never be EU. With ASEAN being over populated with people living in poverty, how can it ever be EU. So what if EU is in trouble now, If you were in a country and need medical attention badly, which cuntry would you would rather be in? Indo? Mudlasia? Vietnam? Myanmar? Thaiand? Or any EU cuntry...

The Europe Ang Mohs, while occassionally lapsing into paedophilic behaviour realised the scam concerning God Kings. They may resent the Normans' laws protecting freemen but somehow decided a loose unification aping what the Chinks achieved in the far east will ease the warring addiction e.g. Pax Romana.

What we have in South East Asia is a collection of basket cases, vassals of Imperial China. Tinpot rajahs and sultans in constant wars with Siamese. The Siamese in turn played musical chairs with Khmers, Burmese and Viets to dominate Indo-China. There are no Magna Carta, no bill of rights, petitions or parliamentary system but we have typical Asiatic despots, harems, dungeons infested with cruel and unusual tortures for peasants and serfs...what do you think? EU style intergration...fat hope man.
