<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to last Friday's report, 'Meet the SAF's first Malay general'. Colonel Ishak Ismail's accomplishment bears testimony to the success of meritocracy, which is a key nation-building principle in our multiracial society.
His exemplary achievement will further encourage fellow Malay Singaporeans to excel in society. I hope the Government will reconsider its long- held policy on deployment of Malay soldiers within the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). There are many capable Malay Singaporeans in and outside the SAF who have the passion to serve and the loyalty to defend our homeland. Like Col Ishak, they deserve a chance to do so, based on merit.

Wow, chinese wife, looks indian, there is nothing Melayu about this Ishak fella.

Trust the PAP and SAF to pull a fast one to con the Malay community.
