Here's my 2 cents from my teen kids and parents' experience

There are three main payment platforms:-
  • Travel - SimplyGo (value stored online), Ez-link (value stored on card)
  • Nets - No-benefit but popular payment method
  • Paywave - VISA/MASTER

My Seniors will use a debit card with NETS and Paywave + a senior concession card for travel.
Young kids can use POSB Smart Buddy card or Nets Cashcard for Nets payment.
Young Kids below 16 cannot apply for their own VISA/MASTER debit cards, so parents can get a children debit card for them.
