Have you ever come across SMS or online invitations, such as the ones above, to participate in games/quizzes that sometimes promise you a chance to win attractive prizes? The services offered in these invitations are called Premium Rate Services (PRS). PRS refer to services that are sent to your mobile phone, usually via SMS messages, but cost more than your typical SMS messages. The charges may be applied on a subscription basis
(e.g. weekly or monthly) or for each SMS sent or received by you. Some examples are news alerts, quiz games, music download services etc.

I'm pissed with unsolicited real estate offers on SMS.

ha ha, I solve this by calling them in the middle of the night when I get up to pee. or while at the club having a beer.
or tell them I will turn up, and ask them to wait for me at the showflat.

Give people a chance to do their marketing campaign... They are just doing a job... If unhappy just unsubscribe the promo SMS.

Once unsubscribed.. Company should then stop sending to them... Let's be Fair to everyone!

On the contrary, the more you unsubscribe, the more SMS will reach you as it confirms to them that someone who can read english is seeing their ads.

That's why I never give my real phone numbers at show flats nowadays.

This may sound silly.

Don't ever unsubscribe. Then they will know you received the message and spam you more.

I don't know about oversea services but all local marketing SMS or email must have the unsubscribe option. Or else can complain to IDA... Under the Spam Control Act and the upcoming "Do not call" registry... It's easy to control local spam but oversea ones... Telcos will have monitor and act!

The TV is fucking full of Ads, then why you watch TV if you get so fucking annoyed with Ads? the buses also got Ads. The taxis also got Ads. Shopping Centres also full of Ads. You banks also send you Ads in the letter box.

Might as well stay at home and wank off into your own image in the mirror, if that is all you wish to see.

Get a fucking life. Ads are part and parcel of the economic eco system. If you don't like Ads, then stay on another planet.

There are numerous ways to filter off spam in emails. The best way is NOT to have an email.

Same for SMSes. Don't like SMSes, don't tell people you phone number and don't subscribe this and that.

Why I never get so many SMSes from property agents, insurance agents, etc, etc, etc? Because I unlist my number and I don't give my number to strangers and prostitutes.

Nothing stopping them from sending via another number. The moment you unsubscribe, it confirms your presence and they will transfer your number to another database for continued spamming.

Q: Oh u know what's the best way to prevent brain tumor?

Ans: Don't have a brain.

Get a samsung phone. It has a anti spam function. Just add to the spam list and it automatically doesnt appear on your mobile again.

I bet you're one of those people who spam ads for a living.

You even used the phrase 'promo SMS'. No one who is even mildly annoyed by unsolicited messages/emails would have considered it as a 'promo' thing.

:kma:

I am pissed with these sms. I am also very pissed with insurance agents making cold calls marketing their financial products. Many of these agents even know your full name when they call you. Our personal information are being sold and passed around financial institutions and insurance firms.

Even my bank (not saying which one) recently sent an 'insurance offer specially for you!', with a wordy letter signed by the insurance company's CEO and a reply slip with my particulars already printed on it. I was also urged to respond by a certain date.

I have already sent a stern warning to the bank.

You know why this spam nonsense is going on? A lack of proper regulation. Those twits in Parliament would rather spend time to fix the opposition and have photo ops than to solve real problems. Also, I'm quite sure some cronies of the regime stand to benefit from the spam business.

In my case I made the mistake of answering the phone from an anonymous party & agreeing to do a survey:o

After that "survey" I started getting spam SMSes

Never respond to surveys where there is no benefit to you.
