The policemen stared, but took no action
Letter from Thomas Lee Zhi Zhi
05:55 AM Feb 26, 2010
I REFER to "Cyclists are more reckless now" (Feb 25).

On Wednesday, I was walking along the corridor of the MRT building at Bukit Batok station at about 6pm.

It was crowded and yet a cyclist persisted in snaking his way through the crowds. He rode past three policemen wearing grey berets but they did not take action.

I stopped one of them and asked why they did not stop the cyclist, as he could have hurt some pedestrians.

The policeman was at a loss for words. One of the other two answered that they would look into the matter, and then walked on, while the cyclist continued in the opposite direction.
