Witness kept in the dark over City Harvest transactions

The prosecution tried to show that a few of the accused church leaders in the City Harvest trial had plotted the movement of millions of dollars, while leaving others out of the loop on their plan.

An e-mail from Serina Wee to Sharon Tan – both of whom are accused – saw the former saying that she did not want her company Advante to be reflected in “any of the transactions”, so that “auditors wouldn’t blame us”.

Another e-mail from Wee to Wahju Hanafi, who is not one of the accused, saw Wee telling Wahju to complete certain transactions in the “soonest possible time frame”, so that the bank would not “raise any questions”.

Wahju is the director of several companies, including Xtron and Ultimate Assets, which were involved in transactions with the church.

Wahju had said in an e-mail reply to Wee, Chew Eng Han and second witness Angie Koh: “All these costs are to be borne by Xtron or whatever company. We are just instruments to make things happen.”

When Koh was asked by DPP Mavis Chionh if she knew what Wahju was referring to in his e-mail response, she said she did not.

Koh was then involved in handling the church’s accounts, but said repeatedly in her court testimony that Wee had not explained to her the background of the various transactions the church had with companies such as Xtron, AMAC or Ultimate Assets, nor the relationship the church had with these companies.

Yesterday marks the third day of the trial, in which six church leaders are alleged to have funnelled S$24mil (RM57.5mil) into sham bond investments in companies such as Xtron, to further the career of senior pastor Kong Hee’s pop singer wife. — The Straits Times / Asia News Network

Matthew 21:12-13

New International Version (NIV)
Jesus at the Temple

12 Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. 13 “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’[a] but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’

If you are not embedding entire web pages in the forum, you are starting threads and making posts in the inappropriate folder.
At least you had the self awareness to once call yourself Teekee.
Obviously, that stubborness and the indecision and idiocy all remain.

the same question should be posed to paps: are they running a country or running a business?

if they are running a business, then their obscene pays do not qualify them. if they are running a country, worst their pays are in extreme excesses.

They are a business group disguise as a church! Like a family business disguise as a quasi democratic government!

Kongsimi,

Don't be a humbug. The Christians (esp. the Protestants) believe that when you get rich, you glorify God and His kingdom. So what CHC did came as no surprise to many non-Christians. It is a rare Christian who shuns wealth.

"You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God." (2 Cor. 9:11)

"The poor are shunned even by their neighbours, but the rich have many friends." (Prov. 14:20)

And next time you want to discuss religion, post in the 'Religion' folder.

In Sillypore, there's no such thing as 'Privatization" of government owned firms.
All those GLCs who has the name "XYZ Pte Ltd" are setup to con people into believing that they are moving forward.
But in actual fact, they still operate under the same umbrella running the country like a business.
No thanks to Lau Goh who implemented this wayang move.

Indeed. People who think SMRT, Sembcorp, NOL, Singtel etc are privatized companies should:

1) Look at who are the people in their board of directors, their CEO.

2) See who owns the majority of their shares.

This pseudo-privatization only allows them to privatize profits and socialize costs.

Which government in the world will give $ to pte ltd companies aka SMRT? The 60.1% are indeed gullible beyond redemption.
