Anyone notice that since Apple announced good results the stock has shot past 480's & looks like it may hit $500 soon:eek: The only reason I'm commenting on this is because I sold some Apple at $450 & then the stock took off after I sold:( Damn:( Damn:( Damn:(

The usual pattern is for the stocks to retrace after they announce the results. I guess not this time:o

It's so frustrating:(

Haw Lian....

wait for FaceBook ...

I'm an investor & not a trader so I stick to proven companies because I use cash to buy shares.
Apple has a track record of good sales that's why its worth more than Microsoft & Google put together:eek:
Their products have universal appeal & will sell in China, US,...wherever. What's important is that they have only scratched the markets in China. Expect more sales:)

If you go to Sim Lim you'll see many, many stores now selling Apple products & Apple related accessories

Facebook might or might not take off:confused: They don't have a track record & with todays poor economy not many are willing to gamble. Just look at Groupon which recently IPOed & went on to disappoint the market. If Facebook proves to be successful I will of course consider getting get some of their shares;)

AAPL (NYSE) is really steaming hot now and that's good. However, i foresee some pullback just before the new product launches, which was typically the case with AAPL historically.

As for Facebook, this stock is definitely worth buying, more so than Groupon which is a really lousy stock. Groupon;s business model can be easily replicated by competitors and as the latest quarter result shows, losses are mounting.

Facebook is a mammoth due to its sheer members list. If it can sort of modify its business model to tap into that, get more funding and do a few acquisitions, it could be another Google. Remember Google started off as just a search engine. And now it has founded Android OS which is slowly but surely taking off.

Hi, any kind souls can put it very simple for me how to go about doing stock trading myself? I'm complete newbie to this and knows nothing about it but is interested to start :D

The higher they climb, they harder they fall.

Remember the dot com bust of the late 1990s?

Facebook is overpriced.

That's what they said about Google. The key point is whether they can monetize their base and use the capital to do value enhancing takeovers.

I learnt this from experience. 2 scenarios from teaching ppl how to invest.

1) They lose money - then they say u lousy or u give false tips.
2) They make money - they praise u and demand more and more without giving u anything in return.

The mistake I made was in selling too early, didn't expect it to go as high in such a short time :(

Facebook may be very good in the social media scene but the big question is how are they going to monetize this:confused: We already have Amazon, Google, etc in the market. For Facebook to succeed they'll have to take market share from the other well established players.

These guys are not going to just sit around & let FB eat their lunch so expect plenty of action in the next few years.

AAPL is definitely going higher than expected. Based on its traditional movement, it should have pulled back. However, a few factors come into mind. The demise of RIM's blackberry (more huge corporations are switching from Blackberries to iOS), upcoming new pdt line in the form of Apple TV and updating of existing pdt line in the form of iPad 3.

If you are a newbie can trade US shares by getting an account with Etrade or ThinkorSwim. My account is with Etrade because they have a local office & a number which will link to their HK office. In the evening the number will be linked to their US offices. This will help avoid long distance charges.

For the contact details of Etrade's the Spore office go to:
https://global.etrade.com/sg/en/home

If you want to trade Malaysian shares go to JB & open a Maybank trading account. I went to the Maybank branch at City Square Mall. Look for Mr. Nazirul Naim Rushdan, he's usually at this branch on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. Their investment office is at 10 & 12 Jalan Pingai, Taman Pelangi.

Trading online is easy. For Etrade any web browser can be used. However for Maybank you will need to use a PC & internet explorer.

I've been keeping an eye out on the markets & I've seen higher prices in Spore, Malaysia & US. However that could change the next day when some problem emerges in Europe :D

Something I've noticed is that AAPL has been consistently been going up. It may retrace but it always recovers. It is now the world's largest capitalized company bigger than Exon, Microsoft, Google,..

There's talk of Apple giving out a dividen as their cash reaches $100 billion. This will attract more instituitional investors who are looking for an income stream for their clients;)
