If the protesters are steadfast on peaceful demonstrations and stick to the original issues, then there won’t be condemnation from many mainlanders, especially most Cantonese in guangdong will sympathize with hongkies as they themselves only demonstrated against Guangzhou state government for removing Cantonese programs on radio and tv only few years ago.

But once sound of independence was raised and even worse carry foreign flags then all bets are off.

If hongkies have demand for democracy for all of China instead of only thinking for themselves, then CCP would have piss it own pants by now.
