Any of you using windows 8 now?

all right burnt the iso unto my thumb drive and downloaded all the windows drivers shit which took a while and yup installation is done on my macbook pro.

Cool to run free windows 8 pro. :D

finalizaing installation with colored screens and words on it obviously to take your attention away from waiting Thank god i have the desktop.

installing boot camp drivers on windows if you're using a mac and installing windows on it you need bootcamp windows drivers so you can load into mac OS if you want.

fucking windows update somehow got stuck at 79% while d/ling the updates so restarted the damn thing and it started installing. Yup. Probably going to be updated to 8.1 and got the damn thing activated too. Really cool to be using free stuff.

I dunno why updates are so slow or get stuck when I am using wireless and directly connected to my ISP but when I use a VPN there's no problem this occured when i was updating win 7 this does not occur when I use my desktop which is directly connected with an Ethernet cable though.

win 8 starts up pretty slow on my MacBook even though it has an ssd but it shuts down super fast and hibernates fast too like in 5 seconds. I wonder if its cos of the injector software I used to activate win 8 or something else. Msata ssds even though are classified as sata3 6gb/s but somehow perform slower than desktop sata3 ssds. Won't be installing win8 on my desktop someone else try it. I don't think it's actually fair to compare boot up speeds on a MacBook cos the hdd is partioned into 2 parts one for osx and the other for win8 and its formatted into a different file system ntfs while Mac is in exFAT format and I think bootcamp drivers help to start up windows and mac are slow in updating drivers for windows and even then so I don't think it compares with a actual laptop that huat has win8 installed so its not a good comparison.

corsair gs ssd good?

Dunno is that for lappy or desktops? I got the Ocz vector for desktop and its super fast my MacBooks ssd brand isn't revealed but a search on the net says its Samsung. Make sure your mobo supports sata 3 6gb/s speeds cos you don't want to buy a slower sata2 ssd but I think all ssds are sata 3 now

I didn't buy it from any local stores so got it more than 100 cheaper than retail price less than $300 but probably cannot exchange locally if I get problems but that is ok it was also brand new.

you can try Samsung 840 pretty good too but probably expensive and I think u are looking for something cheap right?

got my m4 at amazon around 170 last yr.. not really interested in samsung, considering corsair gs

Here's a little info regarding those 'fast' Windows 8 bootup times.

http://tech.slashdot.org/story/13/06/29/0347207/you-will-get-directx-112-only-with-windows-81

Funny thing, actually, on Win 8 booting faster: it's largely because they quietly turned "Shut Down" into "Hibernate". When you select "Shut Down" in Win 8, you're really hibernating it. The only way to properly shut it down is via the command line. I learned this the hard way as a PC repair tech; I couldn't mount a Windows 8 volume using ntfs-3g, even though I'd "properly" shut it down Win 8. I did some digging and learned the truth, and shut it down via the command line, and was able to mount the drive using ntfs-3g.

installed windows 8 on my desktop and boy does it shut down and start up blazing fast.

Less than 10 seconds.

Well installed win 8.1 and finally got it activated. Yeah free windoze with IE 11 only available on win 8.1 and win 7 (with less features) win 8 users don't have that fyi.

For Power Users, upon installing Windows 8 or 8.1, installing the freeware ClassicShell to get back the full-fledged "Start" icon

Yes, Windows 8 / 8.1 is better than Windows 7 in terms of speed and stability.

I don't need that i am used to win 8 already.

win8.1's start button has 2 functions when u either left or right click on it.

Planning to install win 8 64 bit pro just curious if any of you are using it now.

Heard that it starts up super fast and just got myself the OCZ vector which is a SATA III ssd so it's super fast with win 7.

Downloaded all my mobo's drivers too for win 8 and probably going to install it on bootcamp for my macbook pro.

Using it now. Very good never crash or hang after 6 mths. I installed a small program that simulate the Wins 7 start button. Can trigger between Wins7 and 8 interface.
