TimsTom :

Like dl a magnet then the utorrent run until my dongle v hot n ownself disconnect (i cancelled broadband and using a extra hp line in a dongle to wifi). Is it the magnet sus and might have virus, uploading alot of my own stuffs till the dkngle cannot handle?

jadedRomeo :

Use a longer dingle for heat dissipation.

vangug :

what dongle so louya can overheat from downloading and seeding a torrent?

TimsTom :

So is dongle problem? The speeds i mseeing was 2.5mbps max for that dl, happened before and the speeds were even slower, 200-3000kbps..
I not sure if its the magnet that has problem.

jadedRomeo :

Depends. I'm assuming your dingle is using mobile 5G data?
5G is susceptible to viruses and ransomeware.
If you can, call up your telco and ask them to switch back to 3G. It's the safest.

SpawnXp :

i climb at both private and public hills
private hills use dedicated server so i can just stream and no need waste my diskspace on pc.
for public hill, i use cloud provider with 10TB space, upload the torrent file into it or copy the magnet link to it,
almost instant download. then can just stream, but i also mount the cloud drive to my pc and link it to emby/jellyfin.
works for 90 percent of use cases, unless you talking about climbing other things then videos lor

From their conversation, sounds like something dodgy, probably peer to peer sharing of copyrighted or other illegal content using torrent? But what's the relevance of a USB dongle wifi adapter? Torrenting just requires internet access, why would using a wifi adapter dongle or otherwise make any difference? And what's this about a magnet? Or is it code for something else? Wifi adapter will heat up when torrenting meh?

Any IT Savy Samsters know what's this about?
