Orinase = by Upjohn Company promised to halt diabetes and prevent its progression in symptomless patients. It wasn't until independent researchers concluded Orinase actually was killing patients -- causing more than twice the heart disease deaths compared to doing absolutely nothing.

Phenformin = by Ciba-Geigy, banned due to a high risk of lactic acidosis, which proved fatal in 50% of cases.

Rezulin = numerous liver failure cases began to surface within months, one of the most dangerous drugs in America, implicated in 391 deaths. (Earned more than $2 billion for Warner-Lambert.)

Avandia = by GlaxoSmithKline, increased risk of heart attack by 43% -- and cardiovascular deaths by a whopping 64%. Even though Avandia may have been responsible for as many as 800,000 deaths, it's still on the market! Glaxo actually threatening doctors who publically suggested that Avandia was dangerous.
