Doctor-turned-businessman Anthony Soh (right) has been named as the co-defendant in a divorce case set for hearing tomorrow.

A 36-year-old Singaporean man wants to divorce his 28-year-old China-born wife on grounds of her alleged adultery with Dr Soh.

The couple cannot be named because the case involves a custody battle over their three-year-old son.

Dr Soh, 55, is the former president of Singapore Exchange-listed firm Jade Technologies.

When contacted last week, Dr Soh, who is married with two grown-up children, denied the adultery allegations.

He is also due back in court on Tuesday to complete his appeal against a High Court decision on a separate case related to his botched takeover of Jade in 2008.

A court ruled last October that he had misled OCBC Bank into acting for him as financial adviser, when he mounted his bid for the commodities and engineering services company.

As for the accusations of adultery, court documents seen by The Sunday Times showed that the couple were married in 2007 and had lived in an HDB flat in Toa Payoh.

The husband said in his affidavits that he had a private investigator check on his wife after she stopped talking to him in late 2009.

He said she had also started travelling to Australia and China.

This was roughly more than a year after the man, a manager, first discovered that she was working as a masseuse at People's Park Centre in 2008.

Referring to the private investigator's reports, which were tendered in court, the man said Dr Soh and the woman were allegedly seen spending two hours on the afternoon of Nov 2, 2009, inside a flat in Bishan Street 12.

Dr Soh and the woman were also spotted earlier that same day at People's Park Centre holding hands.

The two would meet again over the next four days, the man added.

Dr Soh has denied the allegations of adultery, according to his affidavits filed as his defence for the case.

He said he did not have a 'sexual' or 'intimate' relationship with the woman.

He explained that he was at the Bishan flat with the man's wife to help her clean up the unit that she had rented.

This, after the woman had asked for his 'assistance for temporary shelter' after allegedly having been abused and threatened by her husband.

Dr Soh added that the woman was a 'colleague and friend' who had been working for him since October 2009 at Cyrus Investments, a firm he started on Oct 3 that year.

He said the firm primarily serves clients from China who were either keen to invest in Singapore or Australia, or to emigrate Down Under.

The man now wants a divorce from his wife, who is expected to apply for a gag order on the proceedings at tomorrow's hearing.
