just presenting facts. tell me who is more condescending. the hairdresser who cuts your attempt at small talk and conversation by turning to her mom and yapping away at a language you don't understand (she and mom may be talking shit about you), or you who are a regular customer, want a good haircut, and attempt to give precise instructions that can be acknowledged and understood so they don't mess it up and end up pissing you off for a fucked up job?
although the latter seems condescending, it's not. it's part of life in the valley when the existence of multiple cultural and ethnic groups with different and distinct languages get clear and precise messages across barely as they mostly get lost in translation. many times they lead to frustration and confusion, but also at the same time, they create humor. and sometimes, there is no other way to look positively at the miscommunication without humor. and if that is condescending, so be it as we all condescend on each other for lack of understanding the other's language.
