4 injured in Orchard MRT station incident
Published on Dec 23, 2013, 10:47 PM

By David Ee

Four people were injured at an escalator in Orchard MRT station on Monday evening. A spokesman for the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that two girls, aged 13 and 11, suffered lacerations and abrasions on their legs, and were taken by ambulance to KK Women's and Children's Hospital.

A woman, in her 60s, suffered from back pain, while another in her 40s had lacerations on both legs and on her right eye brow. Both were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The spokesman said that SCDF paramedics received a call at 7.36pm, and two ambulances were despatched to the scene. Details about the incident are still unclear.

PAP and SMRT will tell you it is an isolated incident...:D

overcrowding of people, mechanical fatigue and stress on equipment…. I am avoiding Orchard unless u die die must go there

If it's ordinary folk who got hurt, they will just move on.

I always try to use the concrete stairs at MRT stations. Let the lazy and unfit ones crowd around the escalators. :D

Take the bus to Orchard Road. Some heartland areas have buses that go directly to Orchard Road, the travel time is much shorter compared to taking the MRT. ;)
