Another rail crack at Tiong Bahru MRT station

this is serious, inconvenience, misery to the public. possible to have a case against SMRT or Ms. Saw?

On hindsight, it was rather astute of her to quit. Leave the entire sorry mess to the nerdy paper-generals.

Any machine or eqipment suffers from wear and tear? Its good that Smrt notify its customers.

Bigfuck told you all! Are you ready for more and the big one?

Tuan,
you mean it's time to chill the champaign?

Yup. Looking at where the cracks are occurring at the locations and the sections of rail, it seems everything is quite fucked up. Just waiting for a few more trains to unravel it. If you think our roads are congested, wait till the mrt needs to be shutdown for a few days to months. You will get see how world class our engineering is as well. LKY's finest year alive for a dead man walking since 1942.

I suggest for smrt to charge penalty to the obese, they take up more space and weight .

I hate fat people. If I had my way, they'd all be executed. They're the cause of most of the world's problems.

That is being too cruel. Fat people can turn slim and vice versa. They should be detained and sent to repent in the obesity prison. If fail to slim to normal size in 3-6mths, then I will support your way of execution..

U can say everybody also kana
1) Shareholders want nice big dividents
2) Those surrounding her giving her stupid advice to cut cost
3) She for being so dumb as to sack nearly all the former people and surround her with her lap dogs and yes man
4) LTA for doing a crappy job of auditing the work. Eg A FT ah neh Eng. know next to shit wears a suit and tie refuse to go down to site and from afar told the tech to yell out whats he is doing. A Pinoy Eng who does not even know what a cable tie was ask a tech what he was holding and finally this 1 really take the cake an ang moh logic is as long as these guys have the tool on site that means they have done the job.
5) Middle management did not dare question the orders from above and just follow blindly
Finally the staff some just can't be bothered, others too scared as they got mouths to feed and those few that raised concerns were told to shut up and belittled and told what they know they are just fucking techs or you don't behave ar? I replace you with a chinaman then you know.

London Underground has been operating for 100 years ...they don't have such massive problems like SMRT.
Hong Kong MTR has operated long than SMRT, no such disruption.

Why us and not them? Did we get sub-standard equipment? If we did, why were we paying so much ...probably more than Hong Kong MTR? Did someone make money from the MRT tenders?

Are you kidding me!!! You're talking through your arse without facts or figures.

There has not been a single instance while I've been there where part of the London tube network has not been disrupted for some reason or other be it strikes, mechanical or infrastructure issues.

MTR : http://www.scmp.com/article/430290/10000-held-mtr-rush-hour-breakdown

Since it was built in the late 1970s, the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) has always been a source of pride for Hong Kong people. I rode the system for the first time in 1982 on a visit to Hong Kong from Singapore where I was then working. Walking through the cavernous Central station, lined with wine-colored paneling, made me feel immensely proud of my home town.
Indeed, Mass Transit Railway Corp, which has the monopoly to build and operate the railway system in Hong Kong, is much more than just a business concern. It is an institution, like the civil service, the judiciary and HSBC – all of which form a bedrock of confidence in the city. (I thought about including the well-loved Peninsula Hotel in the list. But that was too much of a personal preference.)
For that reason, I believe that many Hong Kong people, like me, feel badly let down by the frequent disruptions to our MTR service during the past several months

t was most disturbing to read suggestions in the local press that some of the breakdowns in the MTR service in recent months may be attributed to cost cutting by outsourcing part of the maintenance work to outside contractors, who won with the lowest bids in highly competitive tenders. We can understand the need for cost controls, and the fact that our mass rapid transit rail system is among the few in the world that can produce a profit year after year reaffirms our confidence in its competence.

If we issue a claw back on all the poor performance, inflation and missed investment returns from Leegime, it would be a healthy 500 billion, enough to rebuild a better singapore.

hahaha....ouch......that hurts..
empty vessels are a dime a dozen in sbf...
peventive maintenance is more of an art than a science....
too much and it is a waste of resources...and too little, u suffer from problems due to unexpected breakdowns.....
most important thing is that safety is not compromised.....and this is where SMRT has taken a tough stance......
real time on-line monitoring and immediate reacting to status feedbacks are key to ensuring safety.....
slow down as required regardless of the cursings from irate commuters...
at least SMRT tried their best to ensure that all the irate commuters live to curse on anaother day...

It is very easy to sit back and criticize Singapore and that's a right of every taxpaying citizen.

However, to perpetrate this notion, without facts or figures, that problems occur only in sinkieland and nowhere else in the world is mischievous to put it mildly.

The most balanced viewpoint on these sorts of issues is from me. I have lived in Singapore. I have lived abroad.. London, Bay Area, Sydney, Melbourne and now Auckland and I can assure you that Singapore beats them all when it comes to infrastructure reliability.
