Don't you have to signed up first before you can borrow books? Do you mean that you can just walk in & take a book our of the library just like that?

I use my pink IC to borrow books. There's no need for a library card.

You check out the books you wish to borrow at a machine, and it scans the barcode of your IC.

check out "the singapore story: memoirs of lky" everyday with your proud pink ic, and they will remember you on aug-9 and send you a pubic service medal. :D

Last year when I joined the Library I had to register. It's so they have your record on file for such things as fines.
Once that's done you can use your IC to take out books & audio video material.

When you join they will give you a complimentary bag & little notebook.

I would rather borrow Eat, Pray, Love or other similar chick-lit books than touch LKY's horseshit.

You can reserve all his books & digest them...& by 2020, you would not have finished them...they are of a good read...some will place them on the floor & prostrate to it...

I think his books are too bulky. SPH should publish a compact edition: a compilation of his sayings.

Then PAP supporters will have one more thing to wave at PAP rallies.

I, too, have not touched any of LKY's shit. It's just vainglory.

By the way, did you know that 50,000 copies of his memoirs have been sold?

I bet that the buyers are all sicko-fans (read: sycophants) of LKY.

There are many people who want to save money on doors, tables, chairs repairs, & many want to be called intellectual to have copies of his books on the book shelves..and many look at with admiration & inspiration & maybe cure, like Mosses raises his staff during the time of Exodus.

E-books and e-resources only, which means they can still borrow books FOC.

Not cheap for foreigners:

One time registration fee:
Permanent Resident $10.50
Foreigner $10.50

Annual Fee:
Permanent Resident free
Foreigner $42.28

citizens also need to sign up if they wish to access eResources.
And certain resources are only available on the terminals at the library.
They charge you for usage of the terminal although those aged 50 and above are allotted one free hour each day.
